Jim and Lynn Fogle, KC2YRV and KC2ZJW are two fairly new members
of SCARA. At the March 2011 general meeting, Jim and Lynn along with Howard, KC2TYZ,
put forth the idea of having a hamfest sponsored by SCARA inside the Shore Mall sometime
during the month of July. It was an interesting idea and it took new members thinking outside of
the box to push for the event. "Well, it's a good idea but it takes a lot of work." The answer,
"Yes, we realize that and we will get the ball rolling. We've printed up copies of our
proposal for you all to read." The reply, "Yeh, but it's really a lot of work." The retort, "Yes, and your point is…" Question, "What about advertising?" The answer,
"We will be going to area hamfests and contacting clubs via mail and we will set up a web site
with detailed information about the event and include forms online for vendors to fill out."
And so the seed was planted through the impetus of these three members. Others volunteered
to help before, during and after the event, too many to list here but clearly accolades go to
KC2ZJW, KC2YRV and KC2TYZ.
